I wanted to talk to you about intermittent fasting and whether it can be used to help you safely lose weight. A recent study that researched this actually has shown that it maybe good, but there is still a lot of suspicion out there since there is very little research on the topic. It is good to see that people are still objective and willing to protect themselves. I'm going to investigate this and give you my opinion.
What is intermittent fasting?
Intermittent fasting is a very unique concept with regards to your eating habits. It doesn't focus on what you're eating, but when you eat it. You're allowed to eat as much as you want, no matter how fattening or sugary it is, over a 24hr period. The next 24hrs is a fast where you only get the basics like water. This process repeats over time. The recent study I mentioned above showed that people lost weight during this diet, even though they typically ate the same amount during their eating day as they did over a regular two days.
Is it natural?
No one is really quite sure, but when it comes to me and new ideas, I always try to look back in the past and see if it would seem probable.
Take the caveman days. Do you think the diet of a caveman would of been three meals a day, everyday? Probably not. As a hunter, there would be some days better than others, and days with no food. I imagine when a big animal was caught, they had a feast and stuff their faces, while the next they probably didn't eat anything.
I think it is very probable that intermittent fasting does have a great potential in working. Even though there isn't a lot of studies out yet, it does appear to be a natural way of eating.
